Client: Causeway Hospital Emergency Department
Project: Replacement of Existing Nurse Station
Location: Coleraine, Northern Ireland
Sector: Healthcare
Overview
Rosewood Bespoke Joinery was appointed to deliver a critical upgrade to the Emergency Department at Causeway Hospital, tasked with replacing the existing nurse station at the heart of the unit. Given the live clinical environment, this was a highly complex and sensitive project requiring meticulous planning and execution.
Challenges
The nurse station’s central location meant that any disruption could impact life-critical systems and patient care. To ensure continuity of service, our team implemented temporary workstations and carefully coordinated the repositioning of:
-
- Nurse Call Systems
-
- Cardiac Monitoring Equipment
-
- Emergency Communication Systems
-
- Clinical Staff Workflows
This allowed the Emergency Department to remain fully operational throughout the refurbishment.
Design & Delivery
Our in-house design team transformed the initial client concept into a contemporary, functional U-shaped reception counter with curved external corners—balancing aesthetics with durability and hygiene.
Key Features:
Worktops: HI-MACS Aurora Bianco with drop front and concealed LED strip lighting
Workstations: Split-level design with raised monitor positions
Finishes: Egger Niagara Green U646 panels and Polyrey A905 Alu Brossé plinths
Functionality: Ergonomic layout tailored for high-pressure clinical environments
Outcome
The result is a sleek, modern nurse station that enhances workflow efficiency, supports critical care delivery, and elevates the visual identity of the Emergency Department.
