This April marks 10 years since Lagan Specialist Contracting Group (LSCG) proudly acquired H&J Martin – a bold and strategic move that united two historic, family-owned businesses in Northern Ireland.
Founded in 1840 by the Martin family, H&J Martin held a reputation for quality and excellence spanning generations. The acquisition by Lagan – itself founded in 1962 by the Lagan family – brought together two companies steeped in legacy, vision, and a shared commitment to delivering value through service.
With the integration of H&J Martin’s Facilities Management, Fit Out and Building specialisms, a new chapter began for Lagan Specialist Contracting Group – strengthening its offering and diversifying its capabilities across the UK and Ireland.
Over the past decade, the H&J Martin Group has evolved and expanded, introducing exciting new ventures such as Rosewood Bespoke Joinery in 2022 and, most recently, Elmwood Protection Services in April 2025. These companies reflect the continued investment and ambition of the wider Group to deliver excellence in every project.
Kevin Lagan, Group CEO of Lagan Specialist Contracting Group, reflected on the milestone:

Over my 14 years here, I’ve had the opportunity to grow my own career from the ground up – and now I lead a team of over 260 passionate and skilled individuals. It’s their dedication, craftsmanship, and relentless focus on excellence that makes H&J Martin Group such a special place to work. I’m excited for what the future holds.”
