We’re proud to showcase the transformation of a wing at Thackeray Place Residential Home in Limavady, completed in partnership with the Western Health and Social Care Trust.
Our Minor Works team carried out a full refurbishment to create a dedicated dementia-friendly care facility, featuring seven beautifully designed bedrooms.
Project Details
Here’s what makes this space truly dementia-friendly:
✔️ Individually colour-coded doors for each bedroom, bathrooms, and communal areas to aid recognition and reduce confusion.
✔️ Door alarm and sounder beacons at entry/exit points to alert staff to unsupervised egress.
✔️ Safety glass mirrors to prevent injury.
✔️ Access control systems installed, including external gates, for secure and safe movement.
✔️ Specialist flooring from our FM Flooring Department, ensuring consistent colours to prevent perception issues related to uneven levels.
✔️ Bathrooms equipped with DDA-compliant wash hand basins, grab rails, and shower seats for accessibility and comfort.
✔️ Custom-built dresser units by Rosewood Bespoke Joinery Limited, designed to be anti-ligature, meet health and safety standards, and enhance the overall aesthetics.
